Easter Freebie

Wish Spring Break way behind us, and only a 3 day weekend for Easter, my kids and I need some fun activities!  We are trying to do as many games to practice skills as we can.  Since my kinders still need to work on numbers to 50, here is a little game I created to have them play.  Graphics courtesy of The 3 AM Teacher.  Let me know if this is something you can use:)

Spring Break

I am on my way home after a much needed break filled with warmth, sunshine, and relaxation. Even though our entire winter has been unseasonably warm, this past week at home has been unseasonably warm, BUT Panama City Beach was even warmer. I spent the whole break, minus the car trips, in my swim suit. I couldn't have asked for better weather:). Our original plan was to go to Texas, but the day before we left we realized the weather forecast there called for rain and temps close to what Illinois and Wisconsin were calling for. So the day of my departure we completely changed our itinerary. My bags were still packed for slightly cooler and rainier weather. The benefits of being a special education teacher: being prepared for the unexpected!

I have done zero blogging, zero teacher projects, no educational reading and minimal Pinterest-ing on this break, but I feel refreshed! Now I need something fun and exciting for my kiddo-s to do on Monday to make being back at school a bit less torturous for all of us;) If you have any fun ideas you will be using let me know:) Maybe we will do some St. Patrick's Day stuff since we missed all that last week.

Tubing Trip

We got back from our trip just before our second snow storm of the year began!  (For the background info about this field trip, see my blog post from yesterday.)  Crazy, we are in the last week of February/first week of March and we are only on our second snow storm!!!  We were so concerned there wouldn't be any snow for our tubing trip, but we were not disappointed!  I'm currently comfy cozy staring out my window and the winter wonderland.

We had  an hour and a half long bus ride to Upper Michigan (the UP).  That was one long trip for my kiddos!  I should have brought the iPad for them to play with.  It wouldn't have decreased the "are we there yet"s.  I told one of my students, the next time we go on a field trip you will be our official time keeper!  I'll give you a timer and any time anyone asks are we there yet, I'll tell them to ask you.  (I thought this was genius; he didn't quite think so...)

We got to the hill and spent about 2.5 hours on the slopes, ate lunch, and got back on the bus.  What a trip!

Me with the only elementary girl on the trip.

Two of my boys on the bus.

The tow rope pulling us up the hill.  A lot of the kids tried hooking themselves in, and then their rope slipped off, and they knocked others off.  We had a great lesson on waiting patiently, following directions, and taking turns.

Just posing.

Taking a break on the hill.

Getting ready to race down the hill:)

Worn out!

I just had a ball with my students!!!

Field Trip

Tomorrow I'm traveling even farther NORTH, and some of my students and I are going on a fun and exciting trip!  We are going snow tubing!  My kids are excited, and we are going with a couple other classes in our district: an elementary class of students with autism, a middle school ED class, and a middle school CD class.  All our kids had to EARN going on our trip.  I think I'm as excited as the kids!

After school today, the other Elementary teacher and I went grocery shopping.  We are grilling for about 35 people!  We have 40 burgers, 40 hot dogs, 80 buns, 2 cheese and cracker platters, 5 gallons of juice, 2 bags of chocolate candy, ketchup, mustard, cheese slices, 50 bags of chips, about 20 bananas, 20 apples, hot chocolate, and the middle schoolers made desserts!  I don't think we'll be going hungry!

I'm going to try to get some great camera is charging now, hope I don't forget it...or I'll have to resort to the camera phone.
